I can’t even view the sidebar on my app in a post, I have to go to the community page.

Also, please don’t turn this into acronym soup like Reddit was at times.

It seems like Cuck Lives Matter after all.

    Other alternative meanings:

    • PTB: Poorly Timed Boner
    • BPR: Ball Punch Recipient

I wasn’t active on the AITA like subreddits, I only wandered there from r/all, and usually saw there only 2 acronyms: NTA and YTA or something like that. Maybe they had other ones, but the vast majority were these 2. And without proper knowledge it was clear, that they basically mean Yes and No. Here it’s not really straightforward, and not everyone uses them yet.

I’m not against communities having borderline annoying and stupid rules, it’s just early yet, with few subscribers and most of the comments don’t use them. E.g. it should be a rule that all top level comments should start with these acronyms, I’m pretty sure everyone would learn these things quickly. On the aforlinked post from yesterday, only one of these were used, so I didn’t even expect it should be some local specific thing. If every second comment contained CLM,I would have figured out something special going on here, CLM is not just about the Cucks

Seems like a quite coercive approach. I’m not the mod, but from what I got from their previous comments, the acronyms are more here as guidance than mandatory. It would be quite cumbersome to force people to use them, and probably do more harm than good for the growth of the community.

Yeah, I usually only go read the sidebar if I get confused about something in a post. I’m usually scrolling all on mobile, so it’s extra effort to go there lol

Your sidebar is on the “side”.

    My sidebar is down below.

We are not the same (apparently!:-P).

Yours is down below? Mine is under a separate section entirely lol. Every app has gotta put the “sidebar” in a different place. I wonder if the different web UIs move it around too 🤔.

Photon looks a bit different - it’s still on the side, but there are collapsible elements.

Voyager looks very different - I don’t even see the sidebar at all, or how to get to it or anything. Oh wait no: if you can manage to get to the community page, then inside the hamburger menu a new option appears for “Sidebar” - like I can see that for this community (except that is not the community name that shows up everywhere else?! it looks like it’s showing purely the short-form version, not the nicknamed/long-form one i.e. “Lemmy.World Announcements” for [email protected]).\

For those not initiated (or Arch users btw) it seems that it can be quite daunting!

Imagine if the creator and regular users of a community were allowed to speak how they wished, without new users dictating to them what was “allowed” or not!?
