But like most things of this nature, it won’t even make a dent in sales. I’m all for doing something like this for personal satisfaction, but it’s too fringe to expect everyone to join in.

Everyone plays a small part. It’s kind of like voting. My vote is one in a million but I still must vote, if everyone thinks they should not vote because their vote is only one in a million it will be bad. We must try the best we can and urge everyone we know to boycott Tesla and Twitter and in addition urge them to spread the message along to their friend groups. Trying is always better than not trying. Helping doesn’t require any additional effort. For example maybe you’re out of interesting conversation topics with friends, maybe you could mention something like “did you hear about the Tesla that caught on fire?” (mention one of the many, many times this has happened, be sure to clarify that other EV brands are more safe so people go to another EV brand, not an ICE car) then later say “I heard that Tesla cars are dangerous because the doors automatically lock in an expulsion and they also lie about their range” … “This knowledge could save your friends or family, be sure to pass it along” When you say interesting facts like that to people they may repeat it even if you don’t ask them to.

They’re just not great cars, or are very climate sensitive. I’m in Malaysia, and I heard from a tow truck operator that he towed 40 teslas himself, last year alone. Mind you it’s a premium product compared to the Chinese alternatives, and have local dealers, so these are not refurb/ recon jobs.

Anyone got anecdotes from more temperate/ arctic regions? I hear batteries don’t do well in the cold, so my note is really weird for a tropical climate.

Teslas are very popular in Norway and I’ve seen plenty of YouTube channels of Norwegians that praise the Tesla for their cold weather performance. Maybe it’s the humid tropical climate where they fail. The batteries also don’t do well when they are too warm. Maybe the Tesla can’t properly cool the batteries down in warm humid weather.

      Why was he towing them?

You make it sound like they were randomly failing and not involved in accidents etc

I used to own a Model X. 13 failures in 4 years, including 3 where the car was just dead and needed rescuing.

They’re cheap cars, badly made. They do just die.

        I no longer own a Model X.

If it was for accidents, the other brands would also have similar stats, moreso since teslas are also fairly rare over here compared to byd, and even bmw and mercs electirc lines.

We’ll have to wait for clarification from him but I’m pretty sure that’s exactly what he means.
