Planned for 400.000 people? Third largest city in California?

400k isn’t even much in European standards. I don’t get that claim.

It might be by size and not by population, as there are several cities in California that surpass 400k people

definitely by area. it’s “larger” than san jose, but with a million fewer people.

Yea, I’m pretty sure I’ve heard of San Diego being referred to as California’s 3rd largest city.

I don’t think this empty stretch of land would qualify as a city in any sensible definition. But sure third largest.

Its not third largest because its empty land, otherwise other neighboring cities like tehachapi and Tejon ranch would have it beat. They call it thurd largest because they have designated streets with names that have nobody living on it.

We used to go camping in the California City desert all the time. It is super weird seeing cul-de-sacs and street signs with nothing but dirt.

I drove through once to check it out.

It’s a weird-ass place. Like someone took a small desert town and stretched it over miles of empty scrubland.
