Microsoft is hellbent on objectively making their OS worse. That mock up of a Windows XP start menu modified to look like how Windows 10/11 looks now was sobering.
It’s only worse if you’re judging Windows from the point of view of the user. It seems quite more effective at collecting data and selling your information to advertisers compared to previous releases. By that measure, I’d say it’s a smashing success for the company.
Very similar to the information Youtube released, they’ve had a very positive response from advertisers relating to their plans to play advertisements WHEN YOU PAUSE YOUTUBE VIDEOS! Note it doesn’t say how the actual users respond to the propose change, because that part isn’t important.
This reminds me of how you used to be able to use the username NONE in Windows XP to automatically become the administrator account.
It’s a real shame that they are fighting their users so passionately.
If you’re using the Pro version you can still select “other sign-in methods > domain join” and create a local account that way. For now.
I presume just not being connected to the internet at all still allows you to create a local account. I hope, anyway.
Pull the cable or power down your wireless access point if you have to…

Nope, this doesn’t work anymore
Does the region workaround still work?
Hmmm, I got around it (eventually), but it wasn’t through any of the methods mentioned - don’t remember what I did. Very annoying as I hate 11 so much I was actually going to roll back to 10 this week, now I’m worried if I do that then when I eventually have to come back to 11 I’ll be stuck with having to use my MS account for it.

I just made my account with a bogus email (dedicated for this purpose) on first install, then made a new user account with out an email, deleted original and moved on.
They probably still track my every move and can attach it to my real name, but they do that with or without an email.
