It’s the only cable connecting Finland with Central Europe. A vessel has set out to investigate the cause.
If this leads to Russia and we once again see absolutely no fucking response then I’m convinced they could just march into NATO territory as well.
When will breaking news be posted on regular news websites again instead of the Muskie boi hate propaganda machine?
It is reported by actual news websites. OP decided to use Twitter for some unknown reason.
Related: the latest information about the Nord Stream 2 sabotage point to a Ukrainian responsibility. It’s probably not the end of the story. https://www.nytimes.com/2024/08/14/world/europe/nord-stream-explosion-germany-ukraine-arrest-warrant.html
So this could be a Russian answer to that event. It is in no way conclusive, as the operation was not very feasible to perform from a small yacht. It is more likely that a proper naval team was involved.
This WST story provides a lot of details and claims confirmation by different intelligence sources. https://archive.md/dPdoX I don’t know if we will ever have 100% certitude in this kind of case.
Make sure you’re not Russian to conclusions about who did it, ok?
Indeed, it was probably just a Freak Shark Bite.
I’m sure the damage is GRUesome
I’ve been trying to locate what I messed up in my home network earlier today - until I’ve seen this news.

Your HOME network? I don’t think you know what the difference between LAN and WAN is.
@aard @Streetlights do you really feel it in DE?
Not experiencing anything here but I guess my traffic does not really route north that much.
Finland and only on a few connections. I have things at both Hetzner and TeliaSonera - which were using that link. So few things didn’t end up getting routed ideally afterwards.
do you really feel it in DE?
No. It affects some data traffic between Finnland and Germany, not some random home network. There are enough fallback routes.
