    Explanation: Just some political violence in the Late Roman Republic! The two sides, Optimates (conservatives) and Populares (reformers), were constantly at each other’s throats, and even small offenses could blossom into violence, like here. This particular incident gave the conservative Optimates the excuse to murder a prominent Populare politician, Gaius Gracchus.
