People post shit like this as if they’re being forced to eat fast food. Make your own fucking food if you’re worried about the price. It’s been like that forever.

Honestly though, Five Guys is one of the few fast food restaurants that I think the price warrants what you get. Like yeah it’s 22 bucks for Fry’s a burger and a shake but man is worth it you get so many fries in the burgers amazing, and the shake isn’t that bad either, Not to mention the free peanuts, which I’m sure sucks if you have a peanut allergy but I love peanuts, plus I like that they pay well, I see signs saying starting pay at 24/h which for fast food is pretty good.

the cost of lunch at a fast food place is almost the same as a sit down restaurant. although you will have to tip.

but no standing in line, fewer loud customers, less stress, better food quality and the ability to customize dishes. plus you can actually have a conversation without yelling over everyone else.

the problem with cheep fast food is it is no longer cheep and just fast…ish. but every other aspect has become substandard crap.

Went there once and never went back. I can’t enjoy my food knowing it was so expensive for fast food. You can get a steak dinner at Texas Roadhouse instead.

It’s loud. There are peanuts everywhere. Your table is sticky. Corporate country music is playing at a ludicrous volume and everywhere you turn is a TV playing ESPN.

        You pay $40 for a so-so steak.

I used to think that Five Guys in my country had awful prices because of some weird franchising agreement. Seems I’m wrong

The Wendy’s, McDonalds, and Hardees In my town are all closed or closing soon. They’ve priced their garbage quality food right out of what the people that would go there can afford. Good riddance. My only sympathy is for the folks losing a job, but working Fast food suuuuucks. I hope those folks find something better.

It’s also not very good. I don’t get why some people rave about it. Local places are usually much, much better.

Meanwhile i grabbed potato buns and beef and made myself a bunch of smash burgers that would put five guys to shame. Only cost like $10

Wanna know why it’s called Five Guys?

Because it takes the salary of five people to pay for one meal.

There’s a Five Guys in my city and whenever I’m reminded of it, I always wonder why I’ve never tried it before. Then I remember I always walk past it after seeing the prices on the menu.

It is good, but not worth the money. They were reasonable back when they first opened in my area. Then it went about 2x the price in a year. And kept going up.

That’s disappointing, in my area fast food didn’t really start skyrocketing in price until about 2019. But since then oh my God it is only gone up. My $12 meal without rewards has turned into a $19 meal with rewards which is ridiculous to me

I haven’t gone to a fast food joint myself unless the family is also going since then cuz it’s not worth it

Yep, when they had one near my office like 15 years ago, it was almost the same as McDonald’s and it was great…then prices have basically quadrupled and they’re not worth it at all anymore.

I suspect they keep the prices low the first year or so to establish a customer base and then start raising them.

Interesting and very unfortunate. I loved Five Guys when I first visited the US and they opened one up in Australia and the prices are so high it’s insulting and I’ve never been.

Sad to hear it’s the same in the US now.

Yea this was maybe 17 years ago. I used to get it regularly, but I haven’t had it in at least 10 years from the outrageous prices.

Yea I think I’m pushing 10 years as well now. It’s good food…but it’s still fast food burgers for premium restaurant cost. It’s no longer worth it, hell my local burger places which are actual restaurants with waiters are usually cheaper by $10 or more for the wife and I and that’s with a 25% tip. How 5 guys is still open amazes me.

Yeah, this I can understand. Like Applebee’s does the 2 for 26 deal where you can get two burgers an appetizer and fries for about 28 bucks, granted they’re going to nickel and dime you if you want anything other than a standard Burger which is unlike Five Guys(which is about 22 for a bacon burger, large fry and shake) but you do get a little more food even if the burger isn’t as good.

As for how they’re still open, it’s because despite what others have said on this post. They are still one of the best quick restaurant around, they’re also one of the more healthier options. That combined with the fact that they’re one of the few fast food joints that actually pays their workers a living wage makes it a pretty big choice for people who want a quick and easy meal
