So as the title says, I feel like I can’t 100% leave Reddit till there is somewhat more community & content in the Fediverse alternative. Don’t get me wrong I feel the Fediverse is a wonderful idea that could be a great replacement for Reddit as well as other mainstream media but how do I move across if most of the content as well as active posters are on Reddit?

Get used to less. It’s good for you not to be able to scroll infinitely.

Switching to Lemmy was a great deal for me in terms of time management.

@dream_weasel I’m not trying to infinitely scroll but sometimes I like to have information about some of the games or tools I am trying to use, a good portion of them are on Reddit sadly.

Maybe create the community here and start reposting some of the content you find lacking? It could help others make the switch, create more engagement, and take off here. I understand not wanting to take on the responsibility though.

I reposted some things I had bookmarked from Reddit to their corresponding communities, but luckily haven’t had to create my own. I think there’s a community where you can put in a request for it to be made, iirc.

@em2 Yeah I already use so many things to not do the things I should, I know that if the information was all on the Fediverse it would be much easier but doing the work to add hundreds of things would take time but like you said if it’s a few things I already bookmark or something on Reddit then maybe it should just be copied across. I’d love to know what that community for the requests is if you can ever think of it.

It seems like Lemmy’s picking up anyhow. I was here a bit ago before the Reddit sale and opted not to stay as the activity here seemed sparse. I’ve come back recently as I’ve noticed a disturbing trend at Reddit after their sale where commenters/upvoters suddenly have a “more positive” take on tech and AI, and there’s increased bashing on commentors who express concerns about the future (particularly if it’s AI-related). This happened heavily in subs where there was either a very balanced view or heightened lean towards concern for the future. I have one private sub I regularly visit, but after some lurking, I’m considering migrating to here and Diggit permanently.
