Vince has reportedly changed his mind on having bare ring mats, and will be introducing sponsored advertisements.

Source: WON

A reminder as well that lots of wrestlers have said they hate that shit cause the advertisement areas (be they printed on/painted on/whatever) are slippery compared to the rest of the mat.

I wonder if they’ll do actual printed ads or the digital kind that the NBA/NHL uses? The latter won’t be so bad for the wrestlers but damn do I hate them.

I’d say Vince was shown how much the UFC is making off of their canvas just having those ad spots and teeny tiny fan names on it.

Oh 100%. Vince may not like how it looks on the mat, but he does like the look of them extra zero’s!

If I had to guess, and here I am guessing, I’d guess it’s “corporate synergy” rearing its head here. TKO Group can probably command a higher price for the canvas ads if they package the ads between UFC and WWE instead of just UFC.

We’ve heard the rumors lately that TKO has kind of hamstrung Vince’s involvement, even announcing in their call this week that Vince is still a possible problem to their finances and announcing he was selling over 8 million shares worth about 700 million dollars, I don’t believe they are letting him make real financial decisions anymore, but I’m rarely right.
