I believe that John Oliver, and the other writers/producers of this show, have done a wonderful job here. I don’t believe that they had anything to gain and, more than likely, have a lot to lose by standing up for truth.

    It’s absolutely the latter; corporate media is not in the habit of opposing their respective “team’s” narrative, no matter how out of touch that narrative is with the country.

      It’s pretty astonishing how bad at their notional job, of shaping public opinion, the corporate media is getting given how divorced from it’s narrative the general public is becoming.

        Because corporate interests are moving further and further away from the public good, and there’s not really a way to hide that. Fox and all the centrist Republicans found out what happens when your entire narrative is based on pushing more extreme lies in order to insulate your viewers from outside information, and it still doesn’t work; eventually the narrative will run away from you anyways.
