TES4: Oblivion fucking sucks. It’s the worst title in recent Elder Scrolls history. Clunky, waxy, ugly, awkward, and looks like an early prototype of Shrek 1. There’s always a clash between Morrowind vs. Skyrim, but I tell you… It’s Oblivion that sucks the fat dick between the two.

I feel like three of your complaints are graphical when Morrowind and Skyrim are quite ugly. But where Oblivion can get really annoying to me is the level scaling and how enemies become walls of health as you level.

The scaling is fine if you understand how the leveling system works. The leveling system does suck though, and it’s removal in skyrim is a big improvement. It’s very tedious to manage your leveling to make sure you use enough minor skills per level.

I disagree, the scaling isn’t fine, it’s actually awful. Morrowind let you scale exponentially so the enemies can’t keep you. Skyrim has the drauger training but they eventually stop so you can push through to become more powerful. Oblivion though let’s enemies get more health always and eventually it hurts you to level up.

You’re allowed to disagree with me here and I respect that. I just don’t really enjoy how Oblivion starts balanced ish, you create a spell and are a god, and slowly that spell isn’t enough anymore because you jumped around too much.

i disagree that it’s ugly, i think it has an incredibly charming UI and generally very cartoony bright colors. to me it feels very bright fantasy-esque. HOWEVER the characters totally look like shrek, fast travel to any city being free from the second you create your character is a huge flaw that ruins immersion, and i can’t get past the fucking early main quest where you get back out of the first portal and then have to fight 7000 guards because it’s so clunky, so i never did the main quest.

Should’ve made the fast travel like Elite Dangerous, it’s faster than just walking however there’s potential to be ambushed on your way.

The RPG mechanics (mostly because of scaling) and combat blow ass, but it’s fun to speed run. I highly recommend anyone who’s interested try to learn Any%, because it’s such a short and easy run. The bulk of the run is actually just getting out of the tutorial.

You learn 1 trick to pass through walls and basically just walk to a trigger that sends you to the end of the game. You could probably learn it and get good at it in about a half hour. It’s probably one of the easiest games to get a respectable position on the speedrun.com leaderboards.
