An Elgin Street apartment [sic] building is slated to be converted into a residential building, as Ottawa’s downtown core continues its makeover coming out of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Colliers International senior managing director Warren Wilkinson says 200 Elgin Street joins 360 Laurier Avenue and 130 Slater Street as buildings being converted into housing.
This will be an interesting conversion if it works. Office to residential conversions are often infeasible because office buildings have very different regulations governing things like plumbing, airflow, and most importantly, natural light. Looking at this building from the pictures in the article, it looks like it’s got a slightly smaller footprint compared to many office buildings. So it might just be possible.
Downtown needs the extra life. This is great news.
Wait, but I thought the answer was killing WFH? /s
My client hid the last couple of lines, so your response looked like
Wait, but I thought the answer was killing
that would make downtown more interesting…
I mean now that I think about it, there seemed to be a lot more stabbings pre COVID?
