For context, the poor credit ratings which go with medical debt are concentrated in the south, where states have limited the reach of medical safety-net programs.:

In other words, those who can afford it pay. Now those who can’t afford it don’t get punished.
Socialized healthcare with extra steps, but about time the US got there
Socialized healthcare seems like a stretch, but definitely a step in the right direction.
This doesn’t stop collection activities. It only stops that from showing up on credit reports.
