I pose the theory that he was chosen simply because his name is so similar to Pence. All those redneck homemade signs can now be easily modified by just changing two letters.
His name makes me think of a used used car salesman tv commercial, like I can just imagine him walking through a car lot telling me to “Come on down to JD Vance’s Automotive Emporium for the best deals on new & used vehicles!”
