They’re currently the fastest growing Third party proportionally. They’re the 4th biggest(6th overall) and set to overtake the Christian Nationalist Constitution Party for 3rd Biggest Third Party sometime in the next year(only behind the Libertarians and Greens)

The current top 3 has been the same since the early 2000s when the Reform Party fell apart, going from 1st in 1996 to 2nd in 2000 and quickly falling behind the Libertarians afterwards. Libertarians, Greens, and Constitutionalists. The Big 3 Third Parties.

The Greens and Constitution Party have been around since the 90s and the Libertarians since the 1970s. The Greens have batted back and fourth on first place with the Libertarians for a bit (The Greens were ahead from 1996 until around 2006, then fell badly behind to second place, but following the Libertarian Party schism the Greens are set to take first place again).

The Constitution Party has been a struggling third place third party unable to break 0.2% nationally, and lost a lot of support recently both to the Republicans and to Rocky De Le Feunte’s coalition. There’s also been a minor party civil war with the Mormonist Faction in Nevada and Utah breaking away from the Protestant leaning rest of the party, though that’s nothing compared to the Libertarians.

The Libertarians grew rapidly in the late 2000s and peaked in 2016, but party infighting became increasingly severe and in 2022-2023 after the midterms the party completely shattered. To make a long story short, there was an attempted party coup by the Paleo-Rothbardian Right Wing branch of the party, which was countered by the Moderate Minarchist-Randian Wing and the Proudhon-Branched Left Wing faction. This ultimately has resulted in the hard right and paleo branch of the party leaving in mass in 2023 and joining up with Trump. Meanwhile what’s left of the party has slowly been tearing itself apart as the Center Right Anarchist faction wants to back RFK Jr’s coalition while the Left Center Anarchist faction is under Chase Oliver. Chase has seemingly won the power struggle internally, the state factions threatening to break off have stopped, but a ton of people have seemingly bleed over to RFK Jr in the process so it’s mostly just the Bottom Middle of the Political Compass left now. They’re set to fall behind the Greens for the first time in 20 years.

As for the new guys, the PSL? Socialist, Neo-Marxist, and sometimes Reform-Maoist. They’ve mostly avoided infighting as they aren’t too big yet. Their biggest competition is the Green Party(though from what I’ve heard the PSL is hoping to take advantage of Jill’s retirement and/or death and seize the moment to snag a ton of their voters, especially since Cornell West has allied with what’s left of the Bernie Bros and is pinching from the moderate wing)

As I understand it, a lot of the leftists I associate with don’t like them very much? Mostly of the anarchist variety. I don’t actually know what the story is there though, it seems more personal than just ideological differences. This is really unfortunate because they’re the only leftist group that’s actually doing significant work where I live. None of the other groups have any presence here, so it’s PSL or bust.

They don’t seem to have much presence here as far as I’ve been able to tell. It’s a very purple state so you’d think all the orgs would be here, but they’re really not.

They’re actually the only third party on the ballot period. PA is notably hard to get on, the Libertarians fell apart and the Greens got blocked.
