Sure, when conservatives talk about patriotism, they’re usually talking about nationalism.

But I’m not resigning the concept of patriotism to the fascists. They are apatriotic.

Voting for Kamala Harris is a patriotic act, not a nationalist one. Don’t assist the fascists in co-opting patriotism.

Patriotism leads to xenophobia, in the medium run with a large population. Xenophobia leads to racism. That’s not the same thing as fascism, but fascists are happy enough to take advantage of it.

I get what you’re saying and agree, but patriotism doesn’t inherently lead to xenophobia. It can coexist with openness, respect for diversity, and global cooperation.

Patriotism is defined as love for one’s country, a sense of pride in its culture, values, and history, and a desire to contribute to its well-being. In its positive form, patriotism encourages civic responsibility, unity, and respect for a nation’s traditions without hostility toward others.

Of course in some cases it can lead to ultra-nationalism, but it doesn’t have to.
