I keep trying to look up any relevant information that discusses where this teen might have acquired this infection and no one has been able to figure it out. There is no obvious vector … no farm, no farm animal, no connection to being around any kind of animals or direct contact.
My biggest concern I have is if the teen was exposed to the virus through the food supply … eggs, poultry and poultry products.
I trust farmers and I trust farmers to take care of their animals to not expose people.
But it only takes one desperate or inconsiderate farmer who is trying to save money or finds a way to make an extra buck that takes a chance and decides to get rid of a batch of potentially diseased birds.
