Sadly, Plato’s “Greg Dialogs” are lost.
“Fuck you all, I’m going back to my cave.”
It’s named like that because it was what he thought was an ideal relationship, though? No?
Plato had this whole thing about perfect forms that exist outside the physical world, and those perfect forms get corrupted once they are manifested in reality.
Not sure if he specifically had an ideal definition of friendship, or the notion of a perfect, non romantic friendship is described as Platonic because of how messy real world relationships can get.
I think it was more to do with expectations in a relationship. In a platonic relationship the only thing you want from a friend is companionship and their company. Anyone who chooses to be your friend with no exchange of anything means they’re in your life because of a mutual desire for eachother’s friendship.
Isn’t it supposed to be love rather than just friendship?
I love my friends and make sure they know that, personally.
Éros (ἔρως, érōs) means “love, mostly of the sexual passion”.[6] The Modern Greek word “erotas” means “intimate love”. Plato refined his own definition: Although eros is initially felt for a person, with contemplation it becomes an appreciation of the beauty within that person, or and may ultimately transcend particulars to become an appreciation of beauty itself, hence the concept of platonic love to mean “without physical attraction”.

Honestly I think Plato would be more offended to be depicted writing.
