I mean, it’s a joke…but is it?
I will always be grateful to that hospital. I was expecting to owe $300k+, it turns out the total bill over $550k, but the hospital fought with the insurance company and got them to pay for most of it leaving me with a balance due of $10k. When I called to set up a payment plan, the lady on the other end said that they would forgive all but $996. I paid it and as soon as I hung up, I was sobbing. $550,000. What is the point of surviving if you are going to spend the rest of your life slaving away to pay off you’re debt.
I am 51 years old. I do not know a single man my age who didn’t at one point wield a wooden light saber.
When the brush falls off the broom handle, you know you want to raise that handle up as if it was an elegant weapon for a more civilized age…and make the noise. Admit it.
For the love of all that is pure and holy, don’t force me to agree with Ken Paxton! It’s inhumane.
Notice I used the word “appreciate” instead of “like”.
I am 51 now but in 2018, while still in my forties, I had to have multiple major emergency heart surgeries. I was hospitalized for a week and bed ridden for about a month altogether. During that time, all I had for entertainment was my PS Vita. I decided to buy and play Persona 4 Golden blind and I spent those weeks drifting in and out of consciousness while making friends, fighting monsters and hanging out with high school students in that make believe world instead of focusing on my near death experience or the possibility of financial ruin thanks to medical bills.
I will never judge anybody that is moved by or comforted by things like anime or JRPGs. I get it.
It’s an unpopular opinion, but I actually appreciate this guy and what he is doing. He has opted to open his entire research and data to anyone that wants to look at it. So, even though he is definitely a weirdo, the data he is providing might be of some use.
I don’t want to look like a vampire, but if his research leads to the discovery of some protein that allows my heart to beat at full strength for a little longer, or slows down the onset of dementia, etc., then I’m all for him wasting his money trying to look like a Twilight cast member.
The only use I have found for AI music generation software is for the app to make me a loop in the correct key and tempo so I can practice guitar against it. Even then I still prefer a ticker most of the time.
I think you meant people flipping purchased loop packs, and even then I disagree.
J Dilla made his music with samples. His rhythms are so complex that there are literal PH.Ds writing books about them.
Aphex Twin and Burial are another two artists that prove that it takes incredible skill and talent to cook samples and transform them into something new.
Gen-X with forty years of guitar here. I 100% agree. I recently picked up a NI Maschine and it is like learning to play a new instrument and far more difficult than I ever expected.
Yep. I actually bought one of the replicas from the museum after I watched the video.
I haven’t had a need to wear them in years thanks to switching to shoes with the same characteristics as you listed, once I was healed. I just like to mention my experience because it is so easy to take the piss on folk that wear Five Fingers, but they can be legitimately great.
Well, at least it has islands in its current form.
I use to have a horrible and persistent case of plantar fasciitis and fairly frequent knee pain. I decided to wear those goofy ass things and in a few months I was healed. Since then I have made it a point to walk barefoot as much as possible and wear neutral lift, low cushioning shoes.
Thankfully I am married so I was able to bypass the inherent chastity feature of the Vibram Five Fingers.
Genocide makes no exceptions.
I recently leased an EV and in it I use the built-in system because it automatically finds and reserves charge stations along my route. The interface is also nicer than Android Auto.
I also recently got to drive a loaner Mercedes EV and the built-in, AR enhanced nav system blows Google Maps away for city driving.
That only applies to EVs though. I use Android Auto everywhere else.
