Reddit is compromised.
I’m done as well. Fuck them.

For me, it’s because I invested 13 years into that website, as a mostly-apolitical, slightly left-of-center normie; and then one day they decided that saying “we need to be punching Nazis” or “fuck Elon” is somehow too extreme now, and something we don’t talk about anymore (even in hypotheticals or semi-jest - I mean most of us are just keyboard warriors ffs, and we ain’t out there punching anybody).
Back in my day, saying “we should punch Nazis” was a good thing.
So yeah, I harbor some resentment. I lost some connections with some nerdy, niche, non-political interests and hobbies of mine, just because I hate Fascism so, so very much, and I was willing to say so.
So, fuck them.
Happened to me. I didn’t say anything too radical (something about punching Nazis), but discussing the temporary ban resulted in a permanent ban.
They’re really clamping down on people saying not-very-radical anti-Fascist things.
Good riddance.
Hey, maybe Fetterman is telling the truth about his pivot after all.
Ugh, iRobot too. So now I’ve got to replace my Ring doorbell and get rid of my expensive robot vacuum and mop. Damnit.
Oh well, I can vacuum and mop by hand.
Fortunately, our Alexa devices are gone, Audible has been cancelled, our Kindles have been replaced, Amazon Prime, Amazon Kids, and Amazon Prime Video subscriptions are cancelled, and I just got my old photos copied down from Amazon Photos yesterday. So, I think I’m good to delete my Amazon account altogether.
I didn’t see thriftbooks on the list, so that’s a relief.
Do y’all know how Fastmail measures up in regards to privacy?
I’m happy with the service, but I don’t know how it compares in this particular domain, compared to the likes of Proton, Tuta, et al.
The Nuke Reddit History Chrome extension is great for this.
100%. I wish we could go back to being algorithm-less (whereby we simply have to seek out what we’re into).
Man, I’m torn on this one.
We have two grocery stores in our exurban area.
Kroger, as a corporation, contributes to politicians of both US parties in roughly equal measure. Less than ideal (zero contributions), but not too bad I guess. But, they do have an obnoxious customer loyalty card program. Boo!
Publix, on the other hand, doesn’t have a customer loyalty card program at all. Yay! But, the corporation and their leadership contribute HEAVILY to the new Trumpy GOP, Matt Gaetz in particular. So, fuck them.
I’m boycotting Publix. Lesser of two evils I guess.
I really wish we had a locally-owned mom ’n pop grocery. I’d pay a premium for that.
The add-on, called “Nuke Reddit History,” no longer uses the API, just good ol’ fashioned JavaScript.
It takes a bit longer, but it does the job.
