Jump scares aren’t really meant to scare you, they’re there to relieve tension. If a jump scare feels forced to you, then you weren’t very engrossed in the movie, or it was put in a bad spot – but if you’re really on the edge of your seat and then a jump scare gets you, you’ll relax afterward so the tension can start to mount all over again without feeling too oppressive.
If jump scares aren’t doing that for you, then you’ve probably watched enough horror movies that you’re slightly desensitized to it, but the director has to think of every movie goer when making a movie, and bringing new viewers keep the genre alive.
To use the comedy analogy from OP, it’s more like a long winded joke that keeps going and going and building and building, and then suddenly PUNCH LINE! and you’re laughing. Except the long winded joke is the tension building, and the jump scare is the punch line.
You can download specific DLCs but I’m not entirely sure they’ll be useable. It’s worth a try. Here’s how you do it:
Open a web browser and type in steam://open/console and it should open the Steam console inside of Steam itself. Type
download_depot <game_id> <depot number>
for Rocksmith the game id is 205190 and you can look up the specific DLC you want on steamdb
So for example, the Pearl Jam Song Pack could be downloaded using download_depot 205190 222139
Rocksmith’s DLC SteamDB page: https://steamdb.info/app/205190/dlc/
If this DLC has been disabled as you said, this might not work, or you might need to make sure that Steam doesn’t try to update the game (which would disable the DLC again). You can do that by browsing to ~/.steam/steam/steamapps/ (assuming you’re on Linux, or just wherever your “steamapps” folder is on your PC) and find the file called appmanifest_205190.acf
and set it to read only. That should prevent Steam from modifying any changes you’ve made to the game. Just remember to set it back to writable if you want to update the game again.
The game might not recognize the DLC as I said, but you should be able to access the files anyway if that’s all you wanted. They’ll be in ../steamapps/downloading
at least until the download is complete, then it should try to apply the DLC to the game, which might cause the files to get deleted. I’m not entirely sure about that.
East is sunrise. West is sunset. The sun will also always be slightly south and even more so in the winter (unless you’re in the southern hemisphere then it’s slightly north).
If your local area has some kind of landmark like a big tower, or a big lake, learn where that is relative to you and use it as a reference point. For me, I live near a big lake and it’s always south of me. It might be easier for you to ask yourself “which way is the lake?” instead of “which way is south?” or whatever your landmark and direction happen to be.
It’s not exactly “unrecognized” because it’s fairly popular, but From – yes, that’s the name, and yes, it makes it very difficult to search for.
It’s pretty highly rated, horror/mystery show. It’s a lot like Lost except more horror less mystery. It even stars Harold Perrineau who played Michael in Lost.
The concepts and monsters are very scary and/or creepy. It gives me a Dead by Daylight “The Entity” and “The Entity’s Realm” vibe if you’re familiar with the game.

It matches for non-primes and doesn’t match for primes.
You seem to already know this, but the pain is temporary and the dysphoria is temporary. At least this time it’s serving a larger goal and you’ll feel way better about your face soon!
For negativity bias my wife just told me a great technique that she uses for that. Come up with a list of people whose opinions matter to you. Any time you question yourself, imagine how each person on that list would react to what you did. Since those are the only people whose opinions matter to you, if it’s mostly positive, then you should feel proud of your choice.
That kind of sounds like a strategy to trigger lucid dreaming. I’ve heard that if you envision a specific thing while falling asleep, like for example the StarCraft menu screen, then it will appear somewhere in your dream. When it does, it’s supposed to sort of jostle you into consciousness but not wake you up.
It seems that what this person’s friend did with his free will in dream land is nope right out of there. He could have turned that nightmare into something awesome though!
I’m sure you’re aware but I think it needs to be said more; but I think that most women would love to pay men compliments on their appearance, but unfortunately, it sometimes leads to weird, obsessive, totally inappropriate behaviour from said men and so that scares a lot of women off.
We, as a society, should try to discourage men from reading too much into a purely platonic compliment so that women feel more free to give men compliments without fear of super awkward and/or scary situations.
There are a lot of women that love fat guys. Ignoring the haters and wearing what you like is hot AF.
I’m gay, but if I were straight I would be with a fat guy over any other guy, 100%.
Hey girl, happy birthday!
It actually kinda makes sense. Two sounds that a U commonly makes are “OO” like in “yule” and “UH” like in “just”. If you say “OO-UH” close enough together it makes the sound of a W.
You might want to start taking testosterone blockers (spironolactone for example) asap to avoid any unwanted changes. The T-blockers themselves won’t have a huge effect on your body, it might very slightly change your body hair growth and it might make your skin a bit softer but that’s about it.
Then once you’re ready you can start taking estrogen – usually in the form of estradiol pills, although there are other options.
Also, if you’re from Canada – Ontario or Alberta specifically, there’s a very good service called Foria https://www.foriaclinic.com/
It’s not covered through provincial healthcare unfortunately, but it is a not-for-profit service so they keep it as cheap as they can. It winds up being about $200 a year for most patients.
Another thing that wasn’t mentioned in the video that Proton does is it also – sometimes, depending on the game – checks a list of known requirements for a game and installs them through winetricks, or makes other recommended changes to game files that are known to make the game work.
When Proton is updated and the patch notes mention that a game was fixed, it’s something to do with this part of the process. A certain library, or whatever was missing and Proton installs it for you behind the scenes.
It also runs WINE through Steam’s launcher (aka Steam Linux Runtime) which has some common redistributables (aka Steamworks SDK Redist) built right into it, and it also runs appropriate anti-cheat solutions (aka Proton EasyAntiCheat Runtime or Proton BattlEye Runtime).
One thing not left wing and it’s all right wing? Only a Sith deals in absolutes.
It sounds like you’re thinking of Libertarianism which is a subset of liberalism, but they are distinct.
Liberalism is a political and moral philosophy based on the rights of the individual, liberty, consent of the governed, political equality, right to private property and equality before the law. Liberals espouse various and often mutually warring views depending on their understanding of these principles but generally support private property, market economies, individual rights (including civil rights and human rights), liberal democracy, secularism, rule of law, economic and political freedom, freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom of assembly, and freedom of religion. Liberalism is frequently cited as the dominant ideology of modern history.
A better voting system than First Past The Post is proven to create less of a divide between parties and supports either new parties forming, making existing parties more likely to work together on bi-partisan goals, as well as bringing existing parties more towards the center.
Generally, a supporter of the political philosophy liberalism. Liberals may be politically left or right but tend to be centrist.
Sure, it’s totally fine to not like them. My point wasn’t whether jump scares are good or bad, but just to explain why they’re used in basically every horror movie ever. They’re a good tool to help ease less experienced horror fans into the movie who would otherwise walk out or turn it off once the tension got to be too much for them.
