Fair point
No, anyone can use it, payed plans only though (1€ p month min)
Switzerland does not have the strongest data protection laws in the world. Don’t fall for the Proton marketing bs. Some NATO countries (Germany e.g.) have better laws.
Has been verified elsewhere
Position got backed up by an official proton account as a reaction to a shitstorm on Mastodon.
Was there any urge (as if you can be urged at all to bootlick a rightwing asshole) to make these statements? No. Yet he did it.
OK I think I will move to Posteo. Great security, privacy focussed, servers in Germany, running with 100% renewable energy. Prices are ok, too. Ticks all boxes.
They have doubled down officially with their official Mastodon account https://mastodon.social/@protonprivacy/113833073219145503 I therefore consider this official opinion of Proton. Focussing on one aspect and completely ignoring the bigger picture of a luming fascist period in the most militarized economy of the world is just inacceptable. Proton just could have kept their mouth shut, but they decided not to.
No, unfortunately not: https://lemmy.ca/comment/13913116
No, it’s not only one person in the board. They confirmed their stance via their official Mastodon account. https://lemmy.ca/comment/13913116
Fuck, they are dumb and bad businessmen. What’s the reason still to chose their product over Tuta, Posteo, Mullvad? They have lost their unique selling point as at least pretending being a neutral instance providing private services. Plain stupidity.
Yes you are right, and no you are not. It is concerning and something to stay vigilent about in the upcoming times.
Great, thanks for this background!
Thank you. As far as I can see these models are for free. Doing data mining on users would be a tempting thing, right? Ollama does not specify this on their homepage, no payed plans, no ‘free for private use’ etc. How do they pay their staff and electricity and harware bills for model training? Do you know anything on the underlying business models?
Very interesting, thanks! Did you ask what kind of leaks because technically they shouldn’t be able to leak anything as they claim to have a zero knowledge policy?
