He’s the classic metal version. I think I got him from eBay decades ago and only was ready to paint him up now that he’s been pushed out.
I’ve also got a metal Corbulo that I think was from the same second hand lot. I’ll probably get to him when the new Sanguinary Priest drops.
Edit: spelling
Lol, more that seeing the new guy reminded me thati had Chaplain-with-Ball-Gag at home. It’s a timeless look, apparently!
Good suggestion. If I do a “real” one I think a transfer or two could help that.
A bit slapchop.
I primed it Army Painter black, grey and grey/blue dry brush to make the edges stand out, heavier dry brush plus white dry brush on places to be red or gold.
Reds: Flesh Tearer contrast then another dry brush of Evil Suns Scarlet
Gold: Garaghaks Sewer, Army Painter Greedy Gold
Bone: Reaper Ion Soot (grey), Sepia Wash
Rounded out with: Sir Coates Silver, Guilliman Flesh, Magos Purple, Prismatic Bolt Speed Paint, Army Painter Strong Tone
They were mainly a color test, but I’m pretty tickled with the results.
Not yet, but she’s such a fun character that I jumped at the chance to paint her.
Turns out that finger is where the ursus claw fires from all along.
Time to abandon the finger and just kitbash a Power Fist Bump.
Every month the official Warhammer stores will have a different mini that you can get for free. It’s not something to make an army out of, but it is a great low stakes chance to paint something different or do an interesting kitbash.
Yeah, the way they loom over even other marines is great. Hopefully they do more chapter specific variants as they others get their codexes.
There are a lot of PixelFed instances, this might get complicated.
I’d ask for https://miniature.photography but I’m one of only a dozen or so people who post there.
Contrast base coats and acrylic highlights.
Key players were: Iyanden Yellow, Black Templar, Army Painter Camo Cloak, Army Painter Hardened Leather, Army Painter Goddess Glow
So much character!
Nice work!
Have you done some troops too, or just the characters so far?
As soon as I click on a link I get rate limited. That may need to get adjusted.
From an ease perspective the 40k start sets make it simple to test the rules out with minimal commitment: https://www.warhammer.com/en-US/shop/warhammer-40000/start-here
All sold out on their site, but available at plenty of other places.
They just announced a similar Starter Set for Kill Team that looks like a good way to test out this game: https://www.warhammer-community.com/en-gb/articles/B3EtzIYC/kill-team-starter-set-space-marines-vs-plague-marines/
If your ready to pick a faction and get painting/playing I think the 40k Combat Patrol format might be one of the easier options to pick up and play. No need to make an army list, the core roles are free, only needing you worry about knowing the stats/abilities for 4 or 5 squads. https://www.warhammer-community.com/en-gb/articles/7VlmRolQ/download-the-new-warhammer-40000-rules-for-free-right-here/
Kill Team is less models (7-10 per side), but they are often almost all unique and it really needs you to get some terrain set up to play right. But there are “lite” rules available for free right now that make it easier to try out: https://www.warhammer-community.com/en-gb/downloads/kill-team/
