Java is terrible and I hated it but I feel like this stuff is not why, this mostly just seems like stuff that most powerful object oriented languages do.

So will so many better languages, more so actually.
Yeah, seems likely, connect has some really annoying habits around replying to your own comment…

This isn’t helpful, I never said they were smart or correct, I said I understand how we ended up here and I sympathize with people who are suffering and angry and very ignorant and susceptible to propaganda. The DNC didn’t fail at being objectively better, they failed at making people feel heard and convinced that there would be hope of real systemic change and not just roughly what we have had for the past 20-30 years.
It’s a distraction, it’s important to remind people of the value and humanity of immigrants but hatred and anger is a byproduct of people struggling and the only major politicians who aren’t ignoring them or gaslighting them that actually things are going great are the ones telling them immigrants are to blame. The left needs to get much, much better at organizing and the Democrats need to either go left for real or die as a neoliberal but with enough decency to not be preferred by anybody and to not be able to propagandize effectively.
Quite possibly but I think that has as much if not more to do with Harris massively failing to be the exciting not completely pro-establishment candidate we needed.
I am not convinced any significant number of people voted for Trump because they supported Palestine. Feels like a massive straw man meant to stoke divisions in the left.
That is exactly what the word friend means to them.
Yes, that’s called life, we will never reduce death to zero, we will not even really reduce the total amount, 100% of people on earth now without exception will die and there is nothing whatsoever we can do about it. We can only look at preventing PREMATURE death. If Covid is the infection that finishes off someone who is very elderly and unhealthy already it is not nearly as large of a cause for concern than when an otherwise healthy teenager is killed by a new type of infection. Covid still kills a large number of people, much like flu, and bacterial pneumonia, and heart disease. It is however no longer a major factor in EXCESS deaths, is, causes of deaths that are disproportionately and significantly reducing the average age and health of the human population. Saying, some death is acceptable is an incredibly obvious fact of life when you think about it, it’s pointless and futile to try to prevent all deaths.
Look at this way, “reducing death” does not mean making some people not die, that’s impossible. “Reducing death” means increasing the average age of the population and reducing the likelihood of people dying while they’re young.
I mean, not just dumb enough to talk about it, anyone for whom most of their wealth is in publicly traded companies (which is most rich people) has public record of how much.
Thank goodness an expert is here to swat down the drivel a top NATO Admiral is spewing.
Uhm… Gonna have to wildly disagree with you there, wartime and postwar industrialization and strong unions created the American middle class, globalism breaking the unions is what has destroyed the middle class.
Are you fucking kidding me, Jill Stein is your answer? Jill I don’t know how many people are in the House of Representatives and I refuse to call Putin a war criminal Stein?
Depends on what definition you use, classically a social Democrat is someone who believes in using democratic means to gradually and peacefully transition from capitalism to socialism. The definition you are using is actually closer to a social liberal but even that isn’t quite right, welfare does not imply a mixed market economy on its own, welfare can exist in a pure laissez fair market economy. Social liberalism is in favor a mixed market economy which is a further step left from simply a regulated market economy with welfare. In a mixed market economy key industries are publicized and owned and operated by the government for the public benefit while allowing for the possibility of private competition as well as an open market economy in other industries and areas.
It doesn’t require the handful of swing states to be onboard. It just requires the heavy hitters which are largely marginalized by the electoral college and some of the smaller deep left or right states which are also made pretty irrelevant in terms of campaigning even if they get a bit more influence
I would assume access to modern airplanes.
This seems accurate to what modern car underbodies look like, a smooth underbody is very important for aerodynamics and therefore fuel efficiency. For race cars it is often even more important not only for fuel efficiency but for downforce.
