Have you considered the fact that your friend is secretly reactionary but knows that his beliefs are unpopular so doesn’t want to publicly voice them? I think continuing to bombard him with info will only push him further away, you cannot brute force people into being politically active or have empathy for far away peoples (i.e. Palestinians).
