Will talk about Linux, plants, space, retro games, and anything else I find interesting.
That’s terrible…
Just fyi there is some good publishers like baen that still support and don’t plan on removing ebook format downloads.
I do my part! (Throw a couple of PRS the devs way then go back to my goblin hole)
I wince when I hear people talk about putting everything on signal. It’s like, you know if your using Google keyboard on Android, Apple devices, servers to transfer the data, and many others are listening in.
Always assume they can and will identify you in real life. It doesn’t mean give away your real name, just act accordingly.
Things that are legal now may not be legal in the future. Or in other places. Online interactions are not except from this rule.
Nice!
Aww I didn’t know about the trans thing :(
I remember there were reddit-likes too, they just didnt work with fediverse. And were mostly…well almost all were unsavory. Like they were ONLY populated with people reddit didnt want anymore. Communities with banned content. So not the greatest.
Im glad lemmy/piefed/kbin and all other activityhub/fediverse alternatives are out there.
Artists (Capital ART) are on the fediverse. Things and art I have never seen before.
There are makers that are truly doing things that are super awesome. Building machines/automation that are helping out their lives. You can find these things on the open web as well, but not as “free” (IE locked behind some sort of wall).

Also it feels like its filled with real people.
Cant seem to get it working? I tried the hashtag, its not doing anything, no change registered.

Nowadays they are probably mining your resume for AI, seeing what businesses you worked for and mining the data to learn what their competitors are up to, and/or actually getting you setup for jobs.
Fedidb has always had strange numbers…
Fun times.
It doesn’t. There is no truely unique ID in the US.

Yeah I never even knew this was going on.
Yet another reason to try out peertube :).
That sucks, I never knew that.
That was my first thought. Mods found out how much power they actually had when reddit forced all subreddits open when the API debacle occurred. Wondering if some of the defaults or smaller communities will even get a shot at saying no.
