Idk, I think that article is a bit hyperbolic and self serving for validation of the writers and the readers to pander their own intelligence above others. The lengthy exposition on cold reading is plain filler material for the topic and yet it goes on. ChatGPT and LLM have been a thing for a while now and I doubt anyone technically literate believes it to be AI as in an actual individual entity. It’s an interactive question-response machine that summarises what it knows about your query in flowing language or even formatted as lists or tables or whatever by your request. Yes, it has deep deep flaws with holes and hallucinations, but for reasonable expectations it is brilliant. Just like a computer or the software for it, it can do what it can do. Nobody expects a word processor or image editor or musical notation software to do more than what it can do. Even the world’s most regarded encyclopedia have limits, both printed and interactive media alike. So I don’t see why people feel the need to keep in patting themselves on the back of how clever they are by pointing out that LLM are in fact not a real world mystical oracle that knows everything. Maybe because they themselves were the once thinking it was and now they are overcompensating to save face.

I second this. DDG, Searxng and various LLM are my daily drivers depending on the queries. I don’t recognise DDG being bloated with ads like Google. I have adblockers but I put sites like DDG on the whitelist because hey support the good guys.

Is it topical? Regional? Does OP have malware that is transforming the browser document? Is OP searching for niche content and confusing singular domain results for ads? Has DDG shifted owners and doing some tests?

Had that issue when trying to use the app of one of the major package delivery services. Can’t register email because it is in use. Can’t login because password is not correct. Can’t reset the password because I get a weird error message. My credentials worked for some other part of their services but not here. Tried to contact support about it twice but got no response so I ditched using it. I’ll survive getting email and SMS notifications, thank you. If I need to send something I’ll just use one of the other services instead. The old dinosaurs of delivery services are so far behind in technology and user experience it’s crazy but they rely on competing in b2b so it doesn’t matter to them.

These are valid points. But still, I think there is little point in repeating templates just because making something worthwhile is challenging. Especially in art of any kind. I mean, it’s been a mantra since mid last century at least that everything is done and yet artists of every discipline keep pushing the envelope to achieve something original.

I use CTRL-A locally on my computers and CTRL-B on servers. Keeps it easy and consistent to switch between windows and tasks.
