I have scars from operations for fixing my arm after I broke it twice (on separate occasions).
While I’m not glad for having them I don’t regret them either. What would have been the alternative? A supremely fucked up left arm?They are just a part of me now.
In the tradition of typical tattoos, my first one was shit so I got it reworked and now I love it. All the others I LOVE. I didn’t get any till my 40s cos i always thought I’d regret them but now I just regret not getting them sooner

When I was a teenager, I got my nose pierced. I loved that piercing so much. I thought it looked adorable and I was so happy with it. However, my body rejected it, and started growing this lump behind the piercing, and then eventually started growing over it so I had to take out the piercing.
So then I got my eyebrow pierced, wasn’t as cute as the nose, but it was fun at the same thing happened. This bump started growing under the skin of my eyebrow, and then eventually almost looks like a zit coming from my eye eyebrow. I took out the piercing and it went away.
In both instances, I regretted having a piercings. It was the right idea to take them out because clearly my body couldn’t take it. I think I still would’ve like the nose piercing. I probably would’ve taken out the eyebrow, but I liked the nose.
A friend of mine has a full body traditional tatoo. A lot of people ask him what if he regrets it when he gets older? His answer is that if the tatoo is the one thing he regrets the most of all the decisions he made in his life then that would mean that he must have lived a pretty awesome life.
Yes. I have a large tattoo on one of my arms that I wish I didn’t have.
It’s not offensive or anything like that, it’s just…. Kind of a statement piece about something I cared about then and kind of just don’t now.
I’m intrigued what’s it of?
It’s unique and would concretely identify me so I’m not sharing it. But it harms my ability to manage first impressions sometimes and makes warmer weather less comfortable for me when I’m in short sleeves.

I don’t. I have five, all decently large. My tastes have changed since I got my first one ~15 years ago but I like to see it. I was 18 when I got it, so it’s been with me my entire adult life. It was the first thing I did after turning 18, and it reminds me of who I was as a kid and what was important to me. I’m a parent now and I like the reminder, since it’s so easy to forget what it was like being a kid. I spent months researching artists before getting it. My husband regrets his, though. He got his on a whim in high school at somebody’s apartment. They were not sober. It wasn’t done well and just doesn’t look good and he wants it covered up.
Yea. I wanted a whole back scene of a Roman clashing Armageddon scene on my back with my spine being the rock that both armies meet. With the giant banners good and evil had displaying quotes on my shoulder blades.
Shitty tattoo artist gave me the first quote on my shoulder blade it came out looking like a prison tattoo after it healed. Never went back and abandoned the idea because the artist had killer photos in their portfolio but their ink to skin work after healing was rough. I’m guessing he took the photos fresh. Fucker.
Yeah the artist I went to made my idea theirs in a way that I didn’t really like, and they honestly didn’t execute very well either.
Over time even I don’t like the idea I had then that much, but now i also get to dislike the artists version of it even more.
I’ve thought about getting it laser removed, but I think that might create a glaring blank space on a heavily freckled arm by removing the freckles.
I’ve thought about getting a coverup, and might, but that doesn’t make short sleeves any more accessible in professional situations. And whether it’s right or wrong for someone to be influenced in that environment by me having a tattoo, it’s real.
