    This conflict really is a case study on generational dehumanization of an enemy. Both the attack by Hamas and the response by Netanyahu’s government. They don’t seem to see each other as people.

      This is why I have no hope for a ceasefire. At the start of the “war” there were statements from Hamas and Israeli leadership calling their opponents subhuman, and calling for anhiliation. There’s no common ground, no compromise to be had.

        Historically, failures of security by leaders in Israel are followed by massive electoral defeats.

        I don’t know Israeli law, but if there’s a way to call for a vote of no confidence in Netanyahu or a special election, that might be the only hope.
