In the US, we have a lot of power hungry folks driven to positions of power, but then abuse said power. Civil service should attrack those who wish to serve, but not working that way in merica.
I was a reserve cop. Means I did it for free because I wanted to use my skills to help the community.
My department was pretty decent. Seems like the last 10 years things have went down quickly.

You’re correct it should attract people who want to help the community. Law enforcement is a noble career and we get people like this in it.
