what I’m actually saying is that black power is a phrase that many people have projected their own meanings onto and taken the phase in some very different directions.
I mean just compare Jesse Jackson’s Rainbow coalition, which was basically the Bernie Sanders campaign plus reparations but every one had more hair versus The Nation of Islam, which is about as quintessentially auth right as movements get. They DEFINITELY both fall under the umbrella of black power movements, but are basically diametrically opposed on the meme compass.
