Nationalism is an anti-authoritarian, socially progressive priority?
That’s a blue square thing.
Moving towards a shared identity that disregards ethnic distinctions is very libleft.
Yeah usually one that transcends boundaries rather than being based on them. Identities based on them is a very blue square thing. I think swap red and green and this makes more sense. Bottom is anti state anti establishment. Top is pro state pro establishment.
“Black Power” is authright, then?
I mean Black Power isn’t one thing. If you are talking Black Panthers or Nation of Islam or the Rainbow coalition.
Black Panthers would be squarely auth left. They were Marxist leninist. Nation of Islam would be auth right. Rainbow Coalition lib left. And hell i’ll throw flava flav in to finish it out for lib right.
By your logic, though, all forms of “Black Power” would be non-libleft. It is a shared identity based on a boundary. Working class solidarity would also be non-libleft by this logic.
what I’m actually saying is that black power is a phrase that many people have projected their own meanings onto and taken the phase in some very different directions.
I mean just compare Jesse Jackson’s Rainbow coalition, which was basically the Bernie Sanders campaign plus reparations but every one had more hair versus The Nation of Islam, which is about as quintessentially auth right as movements get. They DEFINITELY both fall under the umbrella of black power movements, but are basically diametrically opposed on the meme compass.
Yeah Im with Tropicaldingdong on that one, nationalism is not libleft
Another way to express what they wrote is " ideologies that transcends boundaries rather than introducing a new one"
Replacing ethnic with nation, companies with state, and in general one boundary with another boundary is not very libertarian, and even less libleft.
Black power and stuff do not introduce new boundaries they are based upon the one they’re fighting against, otherwise they would have no goal.
