One of the most annoying bits is that these increases are always inflation plus a bit (eg current rate of inflation plus 3%). But… inflation is calculated using, among other things, broadband prices. So this practice guarantees that inflation will be pushed up

I hate these mid contract rises. BT/EE are always ridiculous in what they rip you off for each year.

As a Zen broadband customer though I’d highly recommend them!

Mr Tang said: “Typically broadband customers will pay for 13 months in a year rather than 12, thanks to inflation linked mid-contract price rises.

Zen has never done this in its 28 years of trading.

Sure about that? My broadband just went up by a quid. It’s not a lot, and it’s mostly thanks to upstream costing, but come on. Don’t fuck around with blatant lies.

I’d still go with Zen like. Can’t beat user-configurable rDNS.

I clicked the article expecting Tang and Zen, and that’s what I got.
Great bunch, and generally very fair.
Less than a month into my contract, the price for new customers went down, and I cheekily called up and asked if they could reduce it to that…And they did. (YMMV, obv, I have referred a lot of people to them, so they might have been extra nice).

I was with Zen for years, only annoying thing was having to ring up at end of contract to get onto newer cheaper prices if they were availiable. Now with YouFibre for that sweet sweet 1000:1000Mbs

Funnily enough, I just got Zen to quote me on swapping me to the altnet that just destroyed the pavement.
£50-ish a month for 500/100 on Openreach, or £35 for 500/500 to get Zen over the altnet.
The idea of having multiple ONTs is pretty cool.

I don’t think Zen partner with Netnomia, but YouFibre is £35 (with a static IP) for 1000:1000 and no phone

Honestly, I’m currently treating upgrading the connection a little carrot for myself once I’m done upgrading the internal gear!

Yeah my old unifi usg-lite-3 is struggling. But I can’t devicide what to replace it with. (and don’t really want to pay for a new router right now :p )
